Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking two planning professionals to support the Development Management Team. You will assist the Team Leader with mentoring, supervising and managing Planners, while advancing a small load of complex planning proposals.

Your role includes handling major development proposals and appeals, and delivering timely outcomes for residents and places in Kirklees. You should demonstrate a strong grasp of planning legislation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

Sound knowledge of current planning legislation and guidance.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong listening and negotiation abilities.
Ability to mentor, supervise and manage a team of Planners.
Organise and prioritise own workload; work well in a small team.
Competence in working in a digital environment.
Experience in navigating sensitive political environments.

Responsibilities

Assist the Team Leader in mentoring, supervising and managing a team of Planners.
Process and determine planning applications and manage a small caseload of complex proposals.
Lead on handling Major development proposals and appeals when required.
Work proactively and in a timely manner to achieve the best outcomes for people and places in Kirklees.
