We are seeking anExperienced Planning Lawyerto join a dynamic local authority legal team on an interim basis.

Key Details

• Start:ASAP

• End date:15th August 2025

• Rate:£50 per hour

• Location:Remote/Hybrid working available (Council HQ: Oxfordshire)

• Hours:Full-time preferred (37 hours/week), flexible working considered

• Team:Legal Services, reporting to Senior Solicitor

The Role
You will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and services in planning law matters, including:

• Drafting legal agreements and policy advice

• Supporting planning-related litigation and inquiries

• Advising on highways, environment, and development matters

• Training officers and attending committee meetings

• Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision

Requirements

• CurrentPractising Certificate(Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or Barrister – England & Wales)

• At least1 year PQE, ideally more

• Strong knowledge ofPlanning Law(and related fields such as Environment, Highways, Local Government Law)

• Local authority experiencestrongly preferred

• Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and provide concise, accurate legal advice

Desirable

• Familiarity with local government governance processes

• Confident advocacy and committee support experience
