Job description

Job Title: Planning Solicitor

We are seeking a Planning Solicitor with over 3 years of PQE to join our national team, based in London, Reading, Southampton, or Cardiff. The team serves a diverse client base, including residential and mixed-use developers, retailers, corporate clients, charities, investors, NHS, local authorities, and government bodies.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing strategic and tactical advice on securing planning permission.
2. Drafting and negotiating statutory agreements.
3. Conducting due diligence related to planning aspects of real estate, funding, and corporate transactions.
4. Advising on special protection areas, Assets of Community Value, and Village Greens.
5. Auditing planning application documents and committee reports to assist with risk management, appeals, judicial reviews, and enforcement.
6. Providing highways advice and demonstrating good knowledge of EIA, CIL, and GLA planning.

You will have opportunities to develop your caseload, collaborate with senior team members, and engage in business development and marketing activities, including building a network of contacts internally and externally.

Requirements:

• Qualified to practice in England and Wales.
• Minimum of 3 years PQE in planning and highways law.
• Experience drafting complex s.106 agreements, highway agreements, land development agreements, and conducting planning due diligence.
• Experience with planning-led regeneration projects and advising on planning judicial reviews.
• Experience conducting planning appeals and presenting at planning committees.
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters to clients without legal backgrounds.
