Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure is seeking a Planning Engineer – Multi-Utility Design to join the GTC team. You will design multi-utility networks for housing, mixed-use, and industrial projects, and liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions.

You will perform demand calculations, produce network drawings, manage variations, and participate in meetings with Clients and Network Operators, contributing to safe, efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
• Engineering Council Membership at EngTech or above.
• Experience in a design related role in the construction or Utilities sector.
• Proficient in AutoCAD & GIS.

Responsibilities

• Design multi-utility networks for housing, mixed-use, and industrial projects.
• Undertake demand calculations, network drawings and variations.
• Ensure designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and according to standards.
• Provide low-cost, high-value engineering solutions for stakeholders.

Purpose of this role

The Planning Engineer – Multi-Utility Design will liaise with internal and external parties to design multi-utility networks for new housing, mixed-use, and industrial and commercial projects.

Your key responsibilities are

Undertake demand calculations, network drawings and variations and to ensure network designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and in accordance with Company and industry standards.

Design innovative engineering solutions that satisfy both our customer needs and the needs of internal stakeholders - provide lowest cost for greatest benefit.

Liaise with our clients to understand the requirements and constraints on their projects.

Calculate contract variation costs and produce variation orders for clients.

Attend meetings with Clients, Network Operators, and other companies as required.

Liaise with other departments and companies across the BUUK group to ensure the safe and efficient construction of projects.

Achieve high customer satisfaction with our design / variation processes.

Any other duties as required by the manager.

Qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) grade 5 or above in English language and Maths.

Experience/Knowledge

Knowledge of engineering principles.

Knowledge of health and safety.

Legislation.

Abilities/Skills

Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.

Engineering Council Membership at EngTech or above.

Experience in a design related role in the construction or Utilities sector.

Proficient in using AutoCAD & GIS (geographical Information Systems).
