Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure currently seeks a Planning Engineer – MU Design to design multi-utility networks for housing, mixed-use, and industrial projects in Woolpit, UK. You will liaise with clients and operators to ensure compliant, efficient designs that meet project constraints.

Responsibilities include demand calculations, cost variation tasks, and cross-department collaboration to ensure safe, quality delivery and high customer satisfaction. Hybrid working is available for eligible roles.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths grade 5 or above.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Understanding of relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Undertake demand calculations and network drawings.
• Design multi-utility network solutions with cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with Clients and Network Operators on projects.
• Calculate contract variation costs and issue variation orders.
• Attend meetings with Clients, Network Operators and others.
• Collaborate across BUUK for safe construction of projects.
• Aim for high customer satisfaction with design and variation processes.

Planning Engineer - MU Design

Purpose of this role

The Planning Engineer – Multi-Utility Design will liaise with internal and external parties to design multi-utility networks for new housing, mixed-use, and industrial and commercial projects.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

• Undertake demand calculations, network drawings and variations and to ensure network designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and in accordance with Company and industry standards.
• Design innovative engineering solutions that satisfy both our customer needs and the needs of internal stakeholders - provide lowest cost for greatest benefit.
• Liaise with our clients to understand the requirements and constraints on their projects.
• Calculate contract variation costs and produce variation orders for clients.
• Attend meetings with Clients, Network Operators, and other companies as required.
• Liaise with other departments and companies across the BUUK group to ensure the safe and efficient construction of projects.
• Achieve high customer satisfaction with our design / variation processes.

Qualifications

• Any other duties as required by the manager.
• GCSE (or equivalent) grade 5 or above in English language and Maths.

Experience/Knowledge

• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Knowledge of health and safety.
• Legislation.

Abilities/Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.

Desirable

• An Engineering Degree.
• Engineering Council Membership at EngTech or above.
• Experience in a design related role in the construction or Utilities sector.
• Proficient in using AutoCAD & GIS (geographical Information Systems).
