Job description

Our OEM Client based in Gaydon is searching for a Planning Engineer (Body Test Operations) to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.

Umbrella Pay Rate: Up to £33.64 per hour.

About the Body Test Operations (BTO) Team

The BTO Team is responsible for planning and managing physical prototype test properties that support the development and approval of body components for client programmes. These properties, often called 'rigs', typically include a painted body shell with only the necessary parts for specific tests, rather than a fully assembled vehicle, along with supporting 'kits' of parts.

For new models in development, we also plan, build, and manage numerous Instrument Panels and Floor Consoles (IP&C) assemblies to support development and sign-off testing. You will lead activities related to these IP&C properties.

Responsibilities
  • Overall end-to-end coordination and responsibility for two models' worth of IP&C assemblies from planning to delivery.
  • Gathering and consolidating requirements from engineering customers.
  • Planning and managing Bills of Materials (BoM) for these assemblies, aligning them with the required build level and part maturities.
  • Coordinating parts ordering, rate and flow, addressing part shortages, and resolving issues, especially for content not yet released by engineering.
  • Supporting property build, resolving issues, and coordinating logistics into testing.
Skills
  • Strong Excel skills with understanding of Bills of Materials (BoMs) and CAD visualization.
  • Engineering and testing background.
  • Project management experience with robust cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in automotive engineering build and/or testing.
Education
  • A degree is desirable but not essential.
