Job summary

Siemens Energy Limited in the Grid Technologies High Voltage Solutions business seeks a Senior Planning Engineer to establish and manage the project's scheduling framework, ensuring delivery aligned with strategic objectives.

You will lead planning and scheduling professionals, perform forecasting and critical path analysis, manage resources and risks, and report to executive leadership. Monthly travel to UK sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with project planning and scheduling in large engineering or energy projects.
  • Proven leadership of planning/scheduling teams and governance.
  • PMI PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6 and EVM techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the integrated master schedule for large-high voltage projects.
  • Establish planning standards, governance, and procedures across the team.
  • Forecast, conduct critical path analysis, and optimize timelines and resources.
  • Monitor and report cost, time, and progress to leadership with corrective actions.
  • Lead a team of planning professionals and allocate resources to priorities.
  • Manage vendor/subcontractor integration with the master plan.
  • Identify and mitigate schedule, cost, and resource risks.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and governance requirements.
  • Serve as scheduling authority and stakeholder negotiator.

Job description

As a Senior Planning Engineer within our Grid Technologies High Voltage Solutions business, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a new project. You will establish and manage the project's scheduling framework, ensuring successful delivery aligned with strategic objectives. Your focus will be on strategic project planning and control, team leadership, resource management, and risk and stakeholder engagement, providing comprehensive oversight throughout the project lifecycle. How You'll Make an Impact

  • Develop and maintain the integrated master project schedule for large-scale High Voltage projects, ensuring alignment with project scope and objectives.
  • Establish and enforce planning and scheduling standards, procedures, and governance across the project team.
  • Conduct forecasting, scenario analysis, and critical path analysis to optimize project timelines and resource utilization.
  • Monitor and report on project status, including cost, timing, and progress, to executive leadership, highlighting deviations and proposing corrective actions.
  • Lead and manage a team of planning and scheduling professionals, assigning responsibilities and overseeing performance.
  • Direct the strategic allocation of resources to align with project priorities and budget constraints.
  • Identify and develop mitigation strategies for project risks related to schedule, cost, and resources.
  • Ensure all project plans adhere to internal and external quality standards and governance requirements.
  • Serve as the primary authority on scheduling matters, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders to resolve obstacles.
  • Manage communication and integration with vendors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with the master project plan.
  • Monthly travel to UK sites is required for this role.
    Extensive experience in project planning and scheduling, typically 8-10+ years, within complex engineering, energy, or construction environments.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing a team of project controls or planning professionals.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, including PMP certification.
  • Strong skills in advanced planning tools, particularly P6 and Earned Value Management.
  • A full UK Driving License is required.
