Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Planning Compliance Officer for a 3-month contract in Esher. You will join the Development Management team to investigate breaches, conduct site inspections, gather evidence, and support enforcement actions within a Local Authority setting.

The role involves appeals, hearings, and legal support, with regular travel and occasional after-hours site visits. RTPI eligibility and a Town Planning degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in Planning Enforcement or Development Management.
• Ability to interpret planning legislation and guidance.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong record-keeping and case management abilities.
• Experience using computerized systems and databases.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• RTPI membership or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Investigate breaches of planning control and assess compliance with permissions and conditions.
• Conduct site visits and inspections across the borough, collecting evidence.
• Prepare enforcement reports, notices, and related documentation; support prosecutions.
• Assist with appeals, hearings, inquiries, and court proceedings.
• Coordinate with Legal Services and other departments on enforcement actions.
• Deliver proactive enforcement and borough-wide compliance projects.
• Maintain accurate case records and auditable documentation.
