Job summary

Essential Employment is recruiting a Planning Compliance Officer to work around Esher on a full-time temporary basis. The role involves investigating breaches of planning control, researching histories and permissions, and ensuring compliance on development sites.

You will conduct site visits, interview stakeholders, negotiate for voluntary compliance, draft enforcement notices, and liaise with Legal Services.

Qualifications

Experience investigating breaches of planning control.

Responsibilities

Investigate alleged breaches of planning control and assess enforcement needs.
Research planning histories, approvals, and supporting documents.
Conduct site visits, measurements, and surveys to verify compliance.
Interview landowners, occupiers, developers, and the public.
Draft and serve enforcement notices and other statutory documentation.
Liaise with Legal Services on enforcement proceedings, appeals, hearings, prosecutions, and court actions.
Prepare evidence for appeals, inquiries, hearings, and court proceedings.
Respond to enquiries from councillors, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
Support enforcement projects and promote community engagement.
Assist with enforcement activity relating to CIL regulations and other planning legislation.
