Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking an Ecology Officer to join the Development Management team to provide specialist ecological input on planning and environmental matters across the district.

The role focuses on assessing planning applications for biodiversity and ecological impacts, delivering Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives, and supporting Habitat Regulations Assessments, appeals and enforcement where required. Hybrid working is available.

Formación

• Degree in ecology, biology, landscape or related discipline.
• Experience in ecology and biodiversity.
• Membership of, or commitment to working towards membership of, a relevant professional body.

Responsabilidades

• Provide specialist ecological advice on planning and environmental matters.
• Assess planning applications and development proposals for biodiversity and ecological impacts.
• Support delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain and Local Nature Recovery initiatives.
• Contribute to the Council's response to the Ecological Emergency.
• Assist with Habitat Regulations Assessments.
• Provide specialist input to planning appeals and enforcement matters.
• Contribute to environmental policy development.
• Help the Council meet its obligations under environmental legislation.
• Review environmental reports.
• Present recommendations to senior officers and members.
• Work with planning colleagues, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
