Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the airport's landscape and passengers. This role offers unique insights and positions you at the heart of providing comprehensive planning services for your projects.

From facilities expansion to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The variety of projects and the dynamic environment will keep you challenged and learning.

To support your growth, you'll be provided with the necessary development opportunities. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams and technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport's CIP and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing campus-wide projects to deliver critical infrastructure.

What is the role?

London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a high-performing team shaping Gatwick's future infrastructure.

The Planner will work through all project stages, managing projects up to approximately £50m, providing a full planning service. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery planning. The role also involves offering technical support and guidance on Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

• Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with milestones and monitoring activities, coordinating work sequences with the overall project plan.
• Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and assist with schedule updates and implementation.
• Apply installation rates to quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
• Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic; prepare progress and performance reports.
• Assess contract programmes, including acceptance/rejection, compensation events, and delay analysis.
• Review quantity logs and assist in developing job hour expenditure estimates.
• Analyze contractor schedules against baseline, identifying critical path activities and variances.

What are we looking for?

• Degree or Post-Grad in construction or a related field.
• Approximately three years of planning experience on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
• Experience with infrastructure projects in operational environments is a plus.
• Skills in quantity take-offs, analysis, and computer operations.
• Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup processes.
• Knowledge of financial and mathematical reporting.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts.
• Strong communication skills.
• Awareness of the airport environment is advantageous.
• Resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
