Job summary

pxFairport is recruiting a Planner to support project delivery across sectors. You will help identify deliverables, develop work breakdown structures and create detailed schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project. Collaboration with PMs, engineers and managers will drive progress updates, resource planning and risk mitigation.

The role emphasizes accurate data, timely reporting, and participation in change control and re-baselining when needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in planning, project controls or project support in construction/engineering.
  • Knowledge of planning principles, WBS, dependencies, baselines and critical path.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project for creating and maintaining schedules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Ability to interpret project information and verify data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning sessions and workshops with Project Managers to identify deliverables and schedule logic.
  • Create, maintain and update detailed project schedules per planning standards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers and department Managers for progress updates and resources.
  • Prepare schedule inputs and reports including look-ahead plans and baselines.
  • Identify gaps, risks and corrective actions to keep progress on track.
  • Assist with re-baselining after scope changes and ensure change control.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Planner.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support planning sessions and workshops with Project Managers to identify key deliverables, develop the work breakdown structure and agree appropriate schedule logic.
  • Create, maintain and update detailed project schedules in line with agreed planning standards and project requirements.
  • Work with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Department Managers and other stakeholders to obtain progress updates, activity durations, resource requirements and supporting information.
  • Resource-load schedules using the shared resource pool and highlight potential resource conflicts, over-allocation or under-utilisation to the Planning Manager.
  • Review schedule logic, constraints, critical and near-critical paths, raising gaps or inconsistencies for resolution.
  • Update project progress accurately and support weekly and monthly schedule reviews, ensuring slippage, risks and emerging issues are clearly identified.
  • Produce planning reports and schedule outputs, including look-ahead plans, milestone reports, S-curves and baseline variance information.
  • Support the identification of corrective actions and recovery options where progress is behind plan.
  • Maintain schedule baselines and assist with re-baselining following approved scope changes, ensuring change control requirements are followed.
  • Prepare tailored schedule updates and planning information for project reports, client reports, meetings and presentations.
  • Keep planning records, assumptions and supporting data accurate, current and auditable.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in a planning, project controls or project support role, ideally within a construction or engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of planning principles, including work breakdown structures, dependencies, logic, baselines, progress measurement and critical path.
  • Experience of using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project to create and maintain project schedules.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Able to interpret project information and identify where schedule data, logic or progress may not be accurate or complete.
