Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a motivated Planner to support a large-scale £80m National Grid programme across three sites. The role focuses on developing detailed programmes, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring alignment with client requirements.

The position offers hybrid working with site visits. The ideal candidate has experience in infrastructure planning, NEC contract knowledge, and strong reporting skills, with opportunities for career progression within the Energy

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a planning role within infrastructure or energy sectors.
  • Experience on National Grid, HV electrical, or substation projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts and reporting.
  • Programme management, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Proficiency in planning and reporting tools, including Primavera P6, APHEX, GIS tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work in a multi-site, fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of a large-scale £80m infrastructure programme across three geographical sites.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project programmes to reflect client requirements and programme changes.
  • Function as the day-to-day interface between planning and project delivery teams.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and senior planners to ensure accurate programme alignment.
  • Lead and contribute to weekly planning and contract review meetings.
  • Produce and manage NEC3/NEC4 contract-compliant reports.
  • Monitor, capture, and report project progress, including earned value (EVM) tracking.
  • Develop and maintain site planning schedules and phasing plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication of programme status to stakeholders.
  • Work under the guidance of senior planning professionals while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Role Responsibilities

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • Aphex
  • GIS tools (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with ability to liaise across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-site, fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Comfortable working under supervision while demonstrating initiative and accountability.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management)

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
