Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic Operations Placement Student to join the Logistics team in Daventry, UK.

The role is a placement year commencing Summer 2027, aimed at giving exposure to a major global organization and its corporate/CBS logistics operations. The successful candidate will identify CI opportunities, measure processes, and coordinate cross-functional UK projects, sharing best practices across Cummins sites.

Qualifications

• Open to students on placement year in Business/Supply Chain/Logistics/Planning/Statistics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to present to stakeholders.
• Solution oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities within the facility and roll out improvement projects.
• Measure processes using Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering techniques.
• Lead ergonomics projects to improve manual handling with lifting equipment.
• Coordinate cross-functional UK Logistics Centre projects with strategic importance.
• Review and improve picking & packing processes for production and aftermarket customers.
• Participate in requirements gathering, data analysis and present findings to leadership; share best practices with other Cummins sites.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry. This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities within the facility and rolling out improvement projects.
• Using Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering techniques to measure processes and quantify improvements.
• Ergonomics projects to improve manual handling processes with the use of lifting equipment.
• Coordinating cross-functional UK Logistics Centre projects with strategic importance to business transitions or processes.
• Review and improve current picking & packing processes for production & aftermarket customers.
• Participate in requirements gathering sessions, data analysis and presenting findings to the leadership team. Share best practices with other sites in the Cummins network.
