Job summary

Cummins Inc. in the UK (Darlington) offers an EMEA Supplier Quality placement starting Summer 2027. You will join the Quality team to gain hands-on supplier quality experience at a global leader. The role is onsite for 3 days per week, with relocation/travel as needed.

You will support supplier quality program delivery, build core-team relationships, work with purchasing on VPI, and use PowerBI for project updates. Ideal for students in Engineering, Supply Chain or related fields.

Qualifications

• Studying a degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management or equivalent discipline.
• Project Management expertise to plan, execute and deliver projects efficiently.
• Delivery of document creation, data analysis, presentations and communication.
• Knowledge of supplier quality control processes, manufacturing process validation and/or engineering drawing controls (GD&T).
• Understanding and application of AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships as an extended member of the project Core Team and integrate with the technical function.

• Support or lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and verification of effectiveness.
• Apply data visualisation tools to inform management and stakeholders of project status (PowerBI).
• Study and apply AI tools to assist project tasks and analysis.

PLACEMENT STUDENT – EMEA Supplier Quality

We are looking for an enthusiastic EMEA Supplier Quality Placement Student to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Emission Solutions segment in UK, Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027. The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Support VPI Supplier Quality Program Leads with delivery of Cummins prototype and production quality expectations within the supplier base by working in close partnership with external suppliers in order to improve quality and program outcomes.

• Build strong relationships as an extended member of the project Core Team and integrate with the technical function and supporting Supplier Quality Engineers tounderstand if new product designs and/or technologies can be repeatedly manufactured by external suppliers.

• Working with the Purchasing function to enable the Value Package Introduction (VPI) program to utilize suppliers that meet both quality and cost expectations.

• Partner with Category-oriented Supplier Quality Engineering resources to ensure robust resolution of externally supplied product quality or manufacturing quality issues

• Support, or lead root cause analysis, development of corrective actions and verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions.

• Apply data visualisation tools to inform management and/or key stakeholders of project status (PowerBI)

• To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Studying a degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management or equivalent discipline

• Project Management expertise to be able to plan, execute and deliver projects efficiently

• Delivery of document creation, data analysis, presentations and communication (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote)
