Job summary

Contract Furniture Manufacturing Ltd in Pontefract is seeking to hire delivery and installation staff to unload, deliver and place furniture at customer sites. You will work in a 6-person team, follow safety checks, and ensure items are undamaged.

Shifts typically start early, with 10-hour days, and some overnight stays may be required. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours; a discretionary bonus and site delivery bonus are offered. You must be willing to travel nationwide.

Working Hours:

• Contracted hours are 40 hours per week.
• The standard working pattern is Monday to Thursday, with shifts typically lasting around 10 hours per day.
• Due to the nature of the business and nationwide deliveries, actual daily hours may vary. Some days may be longer or shorter depending on delivery schedules, travel times, and customer requirements.
• We aim to operate a 4 day working week, however, employees are required to work their full contractual hours.
• Where an employee has not completed their 40 contracted hours between Monday and Thursday, they may be required to work on Friday at one of the company’s depots to make up any remaining hours.
• Flexibility with working hours is essential. Start times may be as early as 5:00am, and finish times may vary depending on delivery locations and operational requirements.
• You must be able to travel to our Pontefract depot for early starts and be willing to travel throughout the UK.
• Occasional overnight stays will be required. Hotel accommodation and a meal allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities:

• Unloading goods and carrying them into the site (must be physically fit as some items can weigh up to 25kg).
• Working as part of a team of 6 to deliver and place furniture at customer sites.
• Taking care when delivering and placing furniture to avoid damage.
• Once furniture is placed, conducting a quality check to ensure items are undamaged and correctly positioned.
• Scanning goods into the correct location/room onsite.
• Assist with various tasks at different sites.
• Stay overnight on occasion (hotel expenses and a meal allowance will be covered).
• Flexibility with working hours is essential due to nationwide delivery schedules. Start times may be as early as 5:00am, and finish times will vary depending on delivery locations, traffic conditions and operational requirements. Employees may be required to work Fridays to complete their contracted weekly hours where necessary.
• Shared responsibility for driving company vehicles to transport staff to and from work sites. Driving duties will be rotated among team members.

Pay Rates:

• Non-drivers: £13.71 per hour
• Drivers £14.22 per hour
• Overtime: Paid at time and a half for any hours worked over 40 per week

Requirements:

• For Drivers you must be aged 25 or over (due to insurance requirements for driving company vehicles).
• Driving licence preferred but will consider non drivers (Must have no more than 6 points)
• CSCS card preferred, however, we are happy to employ candidates who meet the age and driving licence criteria and do not currently hold a CSCS card, as we will support them through the CSCS card test.
• Willingness to stay overnight on occasion.
• Flexibility with working hours.
