Job summary

Nottinghamshire County Council invites applications for a Place Planning Officer (SEND) on a fixed-term basis. The role is hybrid, based at County Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP, 37 hours per week, with a salary in the range £48,738–£54,143 per annum.

You will forecast demand for SEND places, manage complex data and work with schools, local authorities, planners and developers to ensure SEND provision and establish new SEND schools.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with SEND? As the Place Planning Officer (SEND), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Nottinghamshire has sufficient high-quality SEND education and childcare places for children and young people aged 0-25. You will support the development and delivery of our SEND Place Planning Strategy through insightful analysis of demographic trends and pupil projections.

In This Exciting Role, Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Forecasting Future Demand: Anticipate the need for SEND places based on demographic data and trends.
• Data Management: Manage and analyse complex data to inform strategic decisions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with schools, local authorities, planners, and housing developers to ensure SEND needs are integrated into infrastructure planning.
• Expert Advice: Provide guidance to senior leaders and elected members on SEND matters.
• Funding Support: Assist in securing funding for additional SEND provisions.
• New School Establishment: Support the establishment of new SEND schools to meet local needs.

To Succeed In This Role, You Will Need

• A degree or equivalent qualification in SEND, Education, Social Care, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory processes.
• Experience in managing complex data and contributing to strategic planning.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and quality assurance methodologies.
