At Hungry Turtle, we celebrate the rich culinary traditions of Rome. Our focus is on delivering exceptional Roman-style pizzas—characterized by their thin, crispy bases and high-quality ingredients—crafted with passion, precision, and respect for authenticity. We’re now looking for a dedicated Romana Pizza Chef to join our kitchen team and become a key part of our Italian offering.

The Role

As a Romana Pizza Chef, you’ll take ownership of our Roman pizza station, preparing traditional doughs and toppings, and baking each pizza to perfection. You will uphold our commitment to consistency, flavor, and the Italian way of doing things, while helping evolve our menu with seasonal specials and creative additions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and ferment high-hydration dough (48–72 hours cold fermentation), using traditional Roman techniques.

Stretch dough by hand and bake pizzas in electric or stone-deck ovens to achieve the signature crispy texture.

Cook a variety of Roman-style pizzas including Pizza alla Romana, Pizza Bianca, Pizza Rossa, and Pizza al Taglio.

Ensure top-quality ingredients are used, stored, and rotated properly.

Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.

Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff during service to ensure efficiency and quality.

Contribute to menu development with new pizza ideas or seasonal offerings.

Train and guide junior team members on Roman pizza preparation if needed.

What We’re Looking For

2+ years’ experience in pizza making, preferably with Roman or Italian-style pizza.

Deep knowledge of fermentation, dough hydration, stretching, and baking techniques.

Passion for Italian cuisine and respect for authentic ingredients and preparation methods.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Familiarity with food safety standards and kitchen best practices.

Culinary training or pizza certification (preferred but not essential if experience is strong).
