Job summary

TÜV SÜD Limited is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our flow measurement laboratory in the UK. You will install flow meters, assemble pipework, and perform routine maintenance on test rigs, with a focus on safety, precision and reliability.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, plus proven lab/technical experience. Compelling benefits and the potential for hybrid/homeworking are on offer.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as pipefitter/mechanical engineer in a lab/test environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs and technical documents.
• High attention to detail with fault-finding skills and safe lab practice.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit and install pipelines, flow meters and related components per drawings and specs.
• Install flow meters in lab test setups and support test runs.
• Carry out routine and reactive maintenance on mechanical rigs and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve lab systems and pipework.
• Conduct inspections, leak tests and document inspection records.
• Follow HSE guidelines and maintain a tidy lab workspace.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for reliability and efficiency.
• Document all work, including logs and reports.
