Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our Glasgow-based team across Govan and Scotstoun. You will fabricate, install and commission pipework using copper, carbon steel and stainless steel, reading engineering drawings and following safety practices to deliver major projects on ships.

The role involves day and night shifts with a 40,016 salary plus a 33% shift allowance where applicable, and opportunities for training, progression and a supportive, inclusive working environment.

Qualifications

Your Role

As a Pipefitter, you will:

• Fabricate and install pipework systems using various materials, including copper, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
• Utilize hand tools and mechanical equipment to cut, bend, and weld pipes.
• Install utilities aboard ships, such as sinks, showers, and toilets.
• Assemble fittings, valves, and related components according to technical drawings.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Adhere to safety regulations and maintain accurate records of your work.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Solid knowledge of pipefitting methods and safe working practices.
• The ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH, and risk-assessment requirements.
• Previous experience as a Pipefitter or in a similar trade within an industrial or commercial environment.

Working Conditions

This position requires attendance at a recruitment day in Glasgow. You will work on a shift pattern that includes:

• Days: Mon-Thurs, 07:00-16:30
• Nights: Mon-Thurs, 20:30-06:00
• Weekends: Fri-Sun, 07:00-19:30
