Vacancy Summary

Severfield is creating better ways to build for a changing world. We have an excellent opportunity for a Pipe Welder at our Dalton Thirsk site. This is a temporary contract of approximately 10 months, payrolled through a recruitment agency, inside IR35. We are hiring for both day and night shifts. Interviews and weld tests are scheduled for the week commencing 19th May; further details will be provided upon application selection.

Our Commercial & Industrial division specializes in designing, fabricating, and constructing structural steelwork across various sectors, including commercial, stadia, leisure, industrial, data centres, retail, health, and education. We operate manufacturing sites in Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen, each equipped with modern processes and a strong market reputation, covering a broad geographical area including Europe.

We seek a highly skilled Pipe Welder with offshore experience and a commitment to quality. Key responsibilities include:

1. Perform high-precision pipe welding in 6G positions on carbon and alloy steels.
2. Work from detailed Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and engineering drawings.
3. Use MAG (Process 135) and FCAW (Process 136) techniques for structural and pressure welds.
4. Utilize pipefitting tools to achieve high-quality finishes.
5. Ensure welds meet or exceed industry and client standards.
6. Complete various weld types to a flawless finish.
7. Maintain compliance with client specifications and standards.
8. Participate in inspections and keep accurate weld records, including traceability.
9. Perform repairs or modifications as needed, maintaining weld quality.

Key Skills & Experience

• Experience in offshore pipe welding, preferably in oil & gas or marine environments.
• Certification in 6G welding with a portfolio of high-quality work.
• Proficiency in Process 135, 136, and FCAW techniques.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, isometrics, and weld symbols.
• Adherence to high-quality standards such as ISO 9606.
• Ability to pass rigorous trade tests.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience in heavy fabrication or large offshore projects.
• Strong QA/QC awareness, with the ability to self-check welds.
