Job summary

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust requires a Main Area Charge Nurse (Band 6) for the Walkerwood PICU in Ashton Under Lyne. This permanent, full-time post is 37.5 hours weekly across 3 shifts week A and 4 shifts week B, with a salary of £39,959–£48,117 per annum.

The role focuses on clinical leadership, gatekeeping PICU referrals, and ensuring high standards of care within a 10-bed unit, including PMVA de-escalation and safe ward management.

Qualifications

• CPD evidence and IT literacy required.
• Preparation for mentorship and leadership roles.
• Training in violence and aggression management and psychosocial interventions.
• ECDL or equivalent IT skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and manage ward staff.
• Gatekeep PICU referrals and oversee unit compliance.
• Act as named nurse / key worker for identified service users.
• Co-produce collaborative care plans and ensure documentation.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary team and ensure least restrictive practice.
