Job description

Job Title: Picker/Cleaner (Night Shifts)

Location: Ridham Dock Road, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME9 8SR

Salary: £11.60 per hour (dependant on experience) (with £1 top up for working nights)

Job Type: Permanent/ Fulltime

Hours: (55 hours per week on a rota basis Monday - Sunday) 18:00pm - 06:00am

About the role: To keep the working area, that you are responsible for, tidy at all times and, where applicable, to sort and separate recyclables from waste. Note: in addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe working environment throughout your activities, including keeping working area tidy and access to walkways and emergency exits clear.
• Manually sort waste brought into the Yard.
• Sweep, clean and pick up litter from designated areas.
• Clean barriers, signs and other market infrastructure as instructed and required.
• Check incoming loads, ensuring they comply with Site Licence and permitted waste types.
• Litter pick 'Fall Out Areas' and fences in designated areas.
• Immediately report: any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site; accidents, incidents, and near misses; environmental hazards; health & safety breaches to the Level 1 Supervisor or appropriate Manager.
• Ensure appropriate safety equipment and PPE is used at all times.
• Undertake any training necessary to perform other tasks including operation of other plant and equipment.
• Ensure you meet Manual Handling requirements to assist in waste management activities.
• Assist other (Level 5) operatives upon request and when authorised by your Supervisor.
• Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
