An exciting new role at Cardiff and Vale hospitals for a Physiotherapy Assistant has come up, working with our highly experienced Physiotherapy team.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Support patient rehabilitation through skilled work.
• Assist qualified physiotherapists in assessment and rehabilitation.
• Manage own patient caseload referred by physiotherapists, prioritizing effectively.
• Follow treatment protocols, monitor progress, and communicate any issues to physiotherapists.
• Work independently, reporting patient progress and any concerns.
• Manage rehabilitation tasks delegated by physiotherapists, assessing and reporting on patient progress.
• Have knowledge of mobility aids and equipment, including for bariatric patients, and instruct patients on their use.
• Encourage patients and carers in maintaining independence with empathy and interpersonal skills.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and carers, overcoming barriers as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation per CSP and Physiotherapy standards.
• Liaise with physiotherapists regarding patient care and treatment outcomes.
• Assist with administrative duties such as reception cover and diary management.
• Maintain stock levels of equipment and report issues.
• Contribute to service development through meetings and feedback.
• Perform general administrative duties to support clinical operations.
• Participate in service improvements and infection control practices.
• Ensure treatment areas are safe, clean, and equipment is functional.
• Understand and apply clinical governance policies.
• Report incidents and participate in audits and training programs.
• Support weekend rota and ongoing professional development.
