Job Description:

AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual to work within the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, supporting elite female footballers.

The role is for Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join the Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a vital role in AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.

The successful candidate will work with a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s team players, including occasional involvement with pathway players.

Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals eager to work in football. Opportunities for internal CPD, staying current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide emergency first aid during training sessions and matches
• Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
• Maintain detailed injury and treatment records and upload them to our platform
• Communicate regularly with coaches, the strength and conditioning team, and players regarding injuries and player availability
• Participate in internal CPD sessions
• Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
• Ensure compliance with club policies including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality

Qualifications:

• BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
• HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
• In-date EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
• Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehabilitation planning
• Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
• Ability to participate in football at a high level
• MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
