Job summary

Government Property Agency is seeking a Physical Security Engineer to lead physical and electronic security across its estate. The role requires designing, implementing and validating security measures, including blast design and CCTV/ACS, with nationwide travel across UK sites.

You will embed security standards in Workplace Services and advise on risk mitigation, compliance, and best practice, contributing to the agency’s security strategy and decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering physical security design across office estates.
• Ability to assess threats and advise on mitigation options.
• Experience with security standards and compliance.
• Willingness to travel nationally across UK sites.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement GPA physical security policies and communicate them.
• Advise on threats, assess risk, and assure physical/electronic security standards.
• Set technical and process standards for the physical security of the GPA estate.
• Lead the engineering aspects of GPA's security and resilience planning.
• Define and update the employers' security requirements.
• Define physical security assurance and due diligence requirements, ensuring statutory compliance for safe office buildings.
• Apply security industry best practice and innovation.
• Set requirements for delivery of physical security across project lifecycles and RIBA stages.
• Advise on access control solutions.
• Identify and promote best VfM.
• Provide security assurance support to Workplace Services and their service contractors.
• Manage external professional services contractors.
• Lead the physical and electronic security and resilience function within the Design and Engineering team.
• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through CPD and apply skills effectively.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships for GPA's security consultancy and design services.
• Be a key member of GPA Security Function and collaborate with GPA CSO.
