The Role

Martis Search is representing a global, London-based Metals Trading company to hire a permanent "Fully-Qualified Physical Metals Accountant – Product Control (VP Level)." The role reports to their Financial Controller and will be based in London, with full on-the-job training provided. The successful candidate will support London and global physical Metals Trading desks.

The main responsibilities include month-end closing, management accounts production, balance sheet review, and performance reporting within the Metals Business. The role offers significant exposure to Trading, Product Control, and Shipping departments.

The position involves working with physical metals such as Iron, Steel, and Scrap Metal, trading with global companies including manufacturers, shipping companies, investment banks, and hedge funds.

Candidates should be Fully Qualified (ACCA, CIMA) with at least 5 years of Metals experience in a reputable commodity trading house, brokerage, or investment bank. Experience with metals and scrap metal, containerized freight shipments, or dispute claims is highly desirable.

Responsibilities include:

• Month-end close processing and reporting
• Balance sheet substantiation
• Building relationships across departments
• Process automation and improvement
• Cashflow forecasting and funding communication
• Accounts Payable and Receivable support
• Maintaining SOX compliance documentation
