We're looking for a dynamic PHP Team Lead to lead our rapidly growing development team and drive productivity as we expand our operations internationally.

We are one of the fastest-growing E-commerce startups in the world, reaching profitability in Q4 last year with over a million in annual turnover. Our mission is to conquer the E-commerce market by gaining substantial market share from industry leaders. Having achieved profitability, we have strong cash reserves and VC backing, positioning us to expand further. Our goal is to expand to over countries in the coming years, with technology at the core of our strategy.

Our current development department comprises 8 agile sprint teams, each led by a PHP team lead, including 2 senior backend developers, 1 senior frontend developer, 1 QA, and 1 Product Manager. We are adding 6 more teams as part of our expansion. We seek a hands-on PHP team lead to head one of these engineering teams. Your role will be 80% hands-on development and 20% technical leadership, managing sprints for a team of 5-6 engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development sprints, ensuring your team meets objectives on time
• Serve as the technical authority, making key decisions on architecture and code structure
• Promote best development practices within your team (TDD, Unit Testing, SOLID principles)
• Manage team productivity and report progress to the Head of Engineering
• Line management for a sprint team of 5 members: 3 Developers, 1 Product, 1 QA
• Conduct code reviews across the team

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of PHP software engineering with high-quality coding skills
• At least 1 year of technical or project leadership experience, managing deadlines and deliverables
• Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting code reviews
• Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
• Ability to balance coding standards with deadline pressures
• Stakeholder management experience, including internal teams and external investors
• Proactive, results-driven attitude, comfortable working under tight deadlines
• Passion for growing a business beyond just a 9-5 job

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in the E-commerce industry
• Familiarity with launching services in new markets or countries
