Job summary

Focus Group is hiring a PHP Developer to help develop and maintain internal CMS and CRM applications, delivering new functionality while supporting existing systems. The role requires collaboration with an experienced team and a commitment to high-quality software.

This is a hybrid position in Shoreham-by-Sea, with weekly in-office work. You will work on critical business systems, participate in stand-ups and planning, and contribute to the evolution of billing and CRM platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience writing unit tests.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript, JQuery and Vue.js.
• Experience with SQL databases such as MariaDB/MySQL.
• Proficiency with HTML5/CSS/Bootstrap and Laravel.
• Familiarity with API development and Postman.
• Working knowledge of Git version control.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop change requests and fixes on Focus Bespoke CMS and CRM applications.
• Write unit tests and coordinate with QA to ensure deliverables meet acceptance criteria.
• Rotate on the Support desk to address development-related issues.
• Contribute to projects as required by the business.
• Participate in stand-ups, team meetings and planning sessions.

The PHP Developer is responsible for undertaking the building of new functionality and supporting existing functionality across Focus Group’s portfolio of internal applications and services.

This multi-faceted role will involve working closely with the internal development team developing set deliverables that are fit for purpose.

Principal Responsibilities/Duties

• Develop change requests and fixes on Focus Bespoke CMS and CRM applications.
• Write unit tests and work with the QA Analyst to ensure new developments are fit for purpose and meet the acceptance criteria.
• Undertake work on the Support desk on a rota basis for development related issues.
• Work on projects as required by the business.
• Actively participate in stand-ups, team meetings and poker planning sessions.

Essential Skills

• Good ability in writing unit tests.
• Efficient understanding of Javascript, JQuery, Vue.js.
• Previous experience using SQL (preferably MariaDB/MySQL).
• Able to demonstrate efficiency in HTML5 / CSS / Bootstrap and Laravel.
• Knowledge of API Development / PostMan.
• Working knowledge of branching and using Git version control.
• Ability to build meaningful, working relationships with colleagues.
• Proven experience in an equivalent role.
• Customer focused with a desire to understand and deliver customers’ requirements.
• Experience of the software development life cycle.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Passionate about delivering high quality products and ensuring standards are met.

Desired Skills

• Experience of billing systems (Telecoms, MSP, ICT).
• Previous exposure to CRM and CMS systems.
• Relevant industry experience.
• Knowledge of, or an interest in, cloud development.
• Working knowledge of development security principles and best practices.
• Exposure to the .NET framework.
• Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments and source control management.
• Awareness of AI technologies and integrations, including AI-powered automation, Microsoft Copilot, LLMs or other generative AI solutions.
