Job summary

Thorlabs in Ely (hybrid role) seeks a sales professional to drive new business in the photonics industry, handling customer specifications, pricing, product availability and contract negotiations while coordinating design and manufacturing resources for custom solutions.

You will qualify leads, expand opportunities with existing customers, identify new markets, manage the CRM pipeline from qualification to close, and present demonstrations at conferences and trade fairs.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Physics, optics, chemistry, or engineering.
• Hands-on experience with optical setups, lab environments or photonics equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
• Comfortable presenting concepts to large audiences.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams to drive projects to completion.
• Multitask, time manage and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and support for international customers, focusing on pre-sale inquiries.
• Leverage industry expertise and relationships to identify additional business opportunities as existing customers’ needs grow.
• Identify new markets/ industries for Thorlabs to support.
• Manage the sales pipeline within CRM, from qualification to close.
• Provide market feedback to R&D and Marketing Communications groups.
• Present equipment demonstrations and interact with customers at conferences and trade fairs.
• Visit customers alongside the outside sales team to provide technical expertise when required.
