Job description

Job Title: Phlebotomy Team Leader

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomy Team Leader to enhance our services at GEH Hospital. The role involves leading a team to provide both In-patient and Out-patient blood collection services across 7 days, supporting the trust's commitment to accessible patient care.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Collect blood samples from patients in various settings, ensuring competence across all age groups.
  2. Assess and certify new staff in Venepuncture procedures.
  3. Serve as a health and safety representative in the absence of the supervisor.
  4. Monitor staff leave and ensure mandatory training completion.
  5. Support the implementation of shift patterns including early, late, weekend, and Bank Holiday shifts.
  6. Oversee department safety, sample tracking, and stock management.
  7. Support staff development and participate in appraisals.
  8. Contribute to maintaining high-quality patient and staff services.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Full UK driving license for site transportation duties.
  • Experience in phlebotomy across all age groups.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of safety and patient care.
