Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking 2 Phlebotomists to work across Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon, in a full-time 37.5-hour rota covering weekdays, weekends and some bank holidays. You will perform venepuncture and capillary sampling, ensuring accurate labelling and safe handling of samples, while delivering high standards of care.

Job description

We are looking for 2x Phlebotomists to work across both site Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon. The two posts available are a full time post working a rota of 37.5 hours (covering weekdays/weekends and some bank holidays).

• To perform venepuncture and veneole (capillary sampling) blood collection procedures (the piercing/puncturing of veins or the slicing of veneoles, which are both invasive and clinical procedures).
• To extract blood samples from patients in a manner that makes the blood sample suitable/fit for analytical//therapeutic or diagnostic testing and purpose.
• To be responsible for taking blood samples in a safe and competent manner.
• To carry out all procedures safely and maintain high standards of care at all times.
• To ensure correct labelling and dispatch of samples.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
