Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time phlebotomist to cover blood collection at Hillingdon Hospital and the Mount Vernon site. The role involves venepuncture and capillary sampling, with samples labelled and dispatched for testing.

This position operates on a 37.5-hour rota, including weekdays, weekends and some bank holidays. Applicants must hold a Certificate of Competence in Phlebotomy and have venepuncture experience in a busy department; two posts are available.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Competence in Phlebotomy.
• Venepuncture experience in a busy phlebotomy department or equivalent unit.
• Knowledge of infection control and health and safety in venepuncture.

Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collection.
• Extract samples suitable for analytical, therapeutic or diagnostic testing.
• Take blood samples safely and competently.
• Label samples correctly and dispatch them.
• Carry out procedures safely and maintain high standards of care.
