Job summary

Welbeck Cambridge invites applications for a Phlebotomist to join a brand-new private day-case centre. You will perform venepuncture, collect high-quality samples, and ensure patient safety and dignity throughout blood collection.

You will support clinicians, maintain accurate records, and uphold strict infection control while delivering compassionate, patient-centred care in a modern diagnostic environment.

Qualifications

• Formal Phlebotomy training and demonstrable venepuncture competency.
• Experience working with a variety of patient groups is essential.
• Able to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
• Vacutainer systems experience and healthcare setting exposure would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Collect high-quality blood samples through safe and accurate venepuncture, following clinical protocols and best practice.
• Support patients throughout their phlebotomy appointment, delivering compassionate, professional, and person-centred care.
• Ensure all samples are correctly labelled, processed, and prepared for transport to the laboratory.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and wider diagnostic teams to support an efficient patient journey.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment, including stock management, equipment checks, and infection prevention measures.
• Recognise and elevate patient concerns, changes in condition, or emergency situations in line with local procedures.
• Accurately use laboratory and patient management systems to support sample ordering and record keeping.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting quality, safety, and governance initiatives within the diagnostic service.
