Job summary

The Quarter Jack Surgery in Wimborne, Dorset, is seeking a motivated phlebotomist to join our busy 8-partner practice. You will have NHS experience and be skilled in blood collection, chaperoning, and handling samples within a patient-facing clinical team.

Working hours ideally include Wednesdays and Fridays, with a supportive environment and a focus on safety and high patient satisfaction. Training in SystmOne and GP-practice experience are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy training
• 1 year phlebotomy experience
• Experience of working in a GP practice

Responsibilities

• Taking, collecting and storing samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures
• Chaperoning
• Assisting with coils and implants and undertaking other duties as requested
• Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
• Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures
• Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
• Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
• Chaperoning duties
• Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
• Vaccine/coldchain storage, monitoring and recording
• Vaccinere-stocking and stock rotation
• Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
