Job summary

Rushden Medical Centre is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its team. The role involves collecting blood samples safely and comfortably for patients across three local practices: Rushden Medical Centre, County Surgery and Brook Medical Centre.

You will ensure accurate patient details, correct labelling, and timely transport of samples to the lab, while maintaining infection control standards and supporting clinical staff as needed.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent is required.
• Qualification in Venepuncture is required.
• Training in Infection Prevention and Control is required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patients' consent for blood collection.
• Perform venepuncture in line with practice protocols.
• Label, package and store samples correctly.
• Use the specimen log and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure samples are sent to the laboratory promptly.
• Liaise with laboratory staff.
• Work with the nursing team and seek guidance for patient-related matters.
