Job summary

Vita Healthcare in Eastbourne is seeking a phlebotomist to join a busy GP practice team. The role focuses on venepuncture in morning and afternoon clinics, strict patient identification and accurate labelling, and recording on EMIS.

You will run the practice's treatment room, manage samples for lab transport, and work with nurses, GPs, and admin staff to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised phlebotomy qualification.
• Experience working in a phlebotomy clinic preferred.
• Strong record-keeping and patient safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture in morning and afternoon clinics for a diverse patient group.
• Run your own treatment room with pre-booked appointments and some on-the-day urgent slots.
• Carry out strict patient identification checks.
• Label blood tubes and prepare samples safely for laboratory transport.
• Update patient records on EMIS without errors.

• Put anxious or nervous patients at ease.

Vita Healthcare is recruiting a phlebotomist for a general practice team in Eastbourne, one of ten sites serving around 47,000 patients. The core of the work is venepuncture in morning and afternoon clinics, with accurate identification checks, labelling, record-keeping on EMIS and preparing samples for lab transport. The post runs its own treatment room with quick-paced 7-minute appointments, including some same-day urgent slots, and includes ordering phlebotomy equipment. A recognised phlebotomy qualification and prior clinic experience are essential.
