University of Warwick offers a 3.5-year PhD studentship in the Chemistry department to develop the next generation of a spatial spectral microscope for observing single molecules as they assemble into complexes. • Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a strong undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Physics or a related discipline by the start of the project.
• You should enjoy building things, physical chemistry, coding, and taking apparatus apart.

Responsabilidades

• Build a new single-molecule microscope and learn instrument design, electronics and programming for automation.
• Design and implement single-molecule imaging experiments and learn data analysis and numerical simulation.
• Study imaging of self-assembly in model systems and cells, including cell culture and biophysical sample preparation.
