Job summary

A NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified registered Pharmacy Technician passionate about Education and Training to join their busy pharmacy team. The role involves supporting training, maintaining pharmacy systems knowledge, and contributing to both ward and dispensary commitments. Qualifications

Job description

Pharmacy Technician Education and Training

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated qualified registered Pharmacy Technician who has a passion for Education and Training, and is keen to develop their skills further to join our busy pharmacy team at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and be a qualified assessor or working towards an assessor qualification.

The role focuses on Education and Training but the successful candidate will also have ward and dispensary commitments.

We are fully automated with Meditech and EPMA systems, dispensing robot and have imminent further new developments, the successful candidate will be an essential part of this.

We are forward thinking, and encourage our Pharmacy Technicians to learn and obtain further relevant qualifications.

Main duties of the job

Support the Education and Training Leads in the development and update of training packages

Undertake training for medicines management, dispensary and clinical trials

To assess level 2, level 3 and other relevant pharmacy qualifications

To maintain sufficient knowledge of dispensing and pharmacy systems both at ward level and dispensary

To support the development of new and existing pharmacy staff

Undertake training and validations

To work at ward level undertaking medicines reconciliations.

Experience
  • Previous demonstrable experience post registration working as a pharmacy technician.
  • Able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with Trust Core Values.
Skills & Abilities
  • Planning and Organising:
  • Participate in weekend and bank holiday rotas.
  • To attend medicines management meetings on a regular basis.
  • Analytical and Judgement:
  • Assess Stock returned from the wards including the identification of hazardous substances and the correct method for return or destruction.
  • Assess and judge learners work undertaking complex assessments against the qualification learning outcomes and identify further learning needs.
  • Pre-clinical screen discharge prescriptions identifying potentials issues for Pharmacists to address.
  • Analyse Pharmacy systems to help prioritise workloads in the different areas of work such as dispensary and clinical services
Knowledge
  • Knowledge:
  • To undertake Continuing Professional Development
  • Have a detailed technical understanding of Pharmacy services including dispensary, clinical services, medicines optimisation/ management and medicines information
  • Have an understanding of aseptic services
Qualifications
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
  • or equivalent.
  • IT Training (MS Office)
  • Accredited checking technician/CD competent.
  • Assessor qualification or able to work towards
  • BTEC in Clinical Pharmacy / NVQ level 4
