Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join the expanding clinical trials team in Bradford. No prior clinical trials experience is required as full training will be provided, and you must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

You will contribute to day-to-day clinical trials operations, including dispensing, accuracy checking, and collaboration with researchers.

Qualifications

  • Registered pharmacy technician with GPhC registration.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is desirable; full training provided.
  • GCP training current or within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense and accurately check prescriptions in the dispensary.
  • Process deliveries and returns, resolve discrepancies.
  • Support setup and close-down of clinical trials.
  • Assist monitoring visits from trial sponsors and action required items.
  • Review pharmacy elements of trial contracts with sponsors.
  • Ensure safe and legal conduct of clinical trials.
  • Provide timely clinical trial prescriptions in collaboration with research teams.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our expanding clinical trials team. Bradford Teaching Hospitals is a great place to work, with a friendly and welcoming pharmacy team. We are now one of 21 UK CRDCs – Commercial Research Delivery Centres; a key aim of which is to increase the number of commercial clinical trials within the Trust, so there is a lot of potential for us to change and improve our working practices. You will be part of a well-supported and established team, working with experienced staff. We will make sure that you are offered appropriate training and development for the role if required. No prior experience of working in this area is required – full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

CLINICAL TRIALS

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Undertake any training required for the safe, legal and efficient performance of duties
  • Deliver training to staff such as student pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists
  • Attend any meetings relevant to the role and undertake appropriate training opportunities

OTHER TASKS

  • Other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as required by the department
  • Dispensing and accuracy checking prescriptions in the dispensary
  • Other tasks may be available depending on previous experience and department needs, such as policy and protocol writing/review or supporting the governance team

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Participate in audit and pharmacy practice research as time/department need allows

Experience
  • Registered pharmacy technician
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Clinical trials experience – full training will be given if no previous experience
  • Demonstrable post-qualification hospital experience including dispensary services and aseptic manufacture
