Job summary

Truro and Penwith College is seeking an experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician to lead the development of a new Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme in Cornwall. This is a unique opportunity to design, establish and launch a high-quality apprenticeship that meets employer and sector needs, with potential to expand into teaching and leadership as provision grows.

You will develop curriculum content, create learning resources and assessment strategies, build partnerships with NHS

Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
  • Experienced in contemporary pharmacy practice and medicines management.
  • Passionate about developing the next generation of pharmacy professionals.
  • Skilled at building productive relationships with employers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communicator with strong organisational and IT skills.
  • Experienced in mentoring, supervising, training or supporting learners in practice settings.

Responsibilities

Hours: Part-time, Variable Hours (roughly 0.4 FTE - 14.8 hours per week)
Contract: Fixed Term until 31 August 2027
Salary: £40,167* pro rata (Band D, Point 12 (Market Forces))

We're seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Pharmacy Technician to lead the development of an exciting new Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in designing, establishing and launching a high-quality apprenticeship programme that meets the needs of employers, apprentices and the healthcare sector. Initially focused on programme development and employer engagement, the role has the potential to evolve into teaching, assessment and programme leadership responsibilities as the provision grows.

What you'll do

In this varied role, you will:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a new Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Develop curriculum content, learning resources and assessment strategies.
  • Build strong partnerships with NHS organisations, employers and external stakeholders.
  • Support programme validation, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote the programme through employer engagement activities and recruitment events.
  • Support apprentice recruitment, onboarding and induction processes.
  • Contribute to the future delivery, teaching and assessment of the programme as it develops.
What we're looking for
You will be:
  • A Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Experienced in contemporary pharmacy practice and medicines management.
  • Passionate about developing the next generation of pharmacy professionals.
  • Skilled at building productive relationships with employers and stakeholders.
  • An excellent communicator with strong organisational and IT skills.
  • Experienced in mentoring, supervising, training or supporting learners in practice settings.
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience of apprenticeship delivery or programme management.
  • Curriculum development experience within further or higher education.
  • A teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance qualifications.
  • Experience across different pharmacy sectors, including community and hospital practice.
