Job summary

Ysbyty Gwynedd, in the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, offers a fixed-term two-year apprenticeship toward pharmacy technician registration. The role rotates through hospital dispensing, purchasing and distribution, and ward-based pharmacy, with placements in community hospitals and GP surgeries.

There is travel between health board sites, Welsh language ability is desirable, and English speakers are welcome.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including maths, English and science
• Ability to work in a team
• Ability to organise self
• Good IT skills
• Health and safety awareness
• Awareness of working within own limits and professional conduct
• Focus on patient care
• Willing to work in a bilingual area
• NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services (Nice-to-have)

Responsibilities

• Dispensing for in-patients and out-patients in hospital
• Purchasing and distribution of medicines
• Ward-based pharmacy work
• Rotating between community hospital sites and GP surgeries as part of cross-sector training
• Taking part in project weeks at other sites or in primary care
• Undertaking audits and giving presentations
• Gaining experience reflecting the changing and growing role of the pharmacy technician
• Travelling between health board sites
