Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Support Worker to join the Stores and Distribution Team. The role involves picking, packing, receipting orders, stock rotation and ward supply, with weekend and bank holiday rosters.

You will work under supervision ensuring high-quality supply services to the trust and external customers. Applicants should be able to lift heavy items, follow FEFO principles, and communicate effectively with wards and departments.

Qualifications

  • Experience in stock handling and order picking is desirable.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and prioritise workload under supervision.

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker, to join the Stores and Distribution Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Are you a motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of a team? This post will involve picking, packing and receipting of orders, stock rotation and ward supply including extended services.


Working as part of a team the role will involve lifting and moving of heavy items with appropriate training. Weekend & Bank Holiday working as part of a roster.

  • To perform, under supervision, all types of pharmaceutical work appropriate to the level of knowledge and experience, to participate in the provision of pharmaceutical services to our patients and staff.

  • To provide accurate, efficient, and high-quality supply service to the trust and external customers ensuring the continued quality of products, maintaining the standards required for wholesale supply, as required by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority.,

  • Stock shelves in the Inpatient Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, and any other required location ensuring that stock is kept clean, tidy, in the correct place and used in order FEFO (first expiry first out).

  • Carry out regular stock checks of medicines stored within these areas reporting any discrepancies to the Procurement Pharmacy Technician.

  • Receive and process orders for medicines from wards and departments.

  • Visit wards and departments on a schedule, to order stock (top up).

  • Deal with ad hoc requests for stock supply as they arise from wards/departments and outside clinics. These may be urgent and will need to be prioritised appropriately.

  • Input data into the Pharmacy computer system to ensure that all appropriate records are made and kept up to date.

  • Investigate and resolve delivery discrepancies, liaising with invoicing staff, making appropriate records of all investigations and outcomes.
