Job summary

The Inpatient Pharmacy at the LGI and St James' hospital is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Services Assistant (Apprentice) to join friendly teams in Leeds. You will undertake a Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy Services while training on the job over 12–15 months, with potential progression to Senior Pharmacy Services Assistant afterwards.

Full training is given in dispensing, stock management and reception duties. There are shifts that include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis, and

Qualifications

  • Must undertake Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy Services over 12–15 months.
  • Willing to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.
  • Training on the job with full support to progress to Senior Pharmacy Services Assistant if desired.

Responsibilities

  • Stock receipt, stock counting & ordering (top-ups).
  • Medicines order assembly and distribution.
  • Stock control procedures and stocktaking.
  • Cleaning of aseptic facilities and disposal of pharmaceutical waste.
  • Assembly, packaging and over-labelling of pharmaceutical products.

Job description

Are you passionate about providing an efficient medicines supply service to Inpatients in our hospital?The Inpatient Pharmacy at the LGI and St James' hospital is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Pharmacy Services Assistant (Apprentice) to join the friendly, sociable teams.The successful candidate will undertake the Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy Services qualification whilst training on the job over a 12-15 month period. On completion of this qualification, will then be able to progress to a Senior Pharmacy Services Assistant should they wish to do so.Full training will be given in labelling and dispensing of medicines, ordering and stock maintenance and reception duties.

Main duties of the job

Train to be a Pharmacy Services Assistant over a 12-15 month period. undertaking a GPhC accredited Level 2 qualificationTo perform a variety of support duties within the medicines supply chain. These include stock receipt, stock counting & ordering (top-ups), medicines order assembly, and distribution. Stock control procedures and stocktaking. The cleaning of aseptic facilities and the disposal of pharmaceutical waste. Assembly, packaging and over-labelling pharmaceutical products.There are no line management responsibilities. All duties are performed working to procedures, mostly under direct supervision. The jobholder will work as a member of a team of Support Workers. Although duties are generally rostered across the team, there may be changes in response to urgent demand, service cover etc.The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.Please see Job Description for further details.
