Job summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a Pharmacist to join our dispensing team in Northallerton. You will dispense medicines and appliances following SOPs, endorse prescriptions per NHS requirements, and stay up to date with drugs and legislation.

You will liaise with patients for guidance and ensure accurate dispensing records. You will manage stock, respond to prescription requests, handle drug alerts, and ensure proper storage, temperature control, and clean working conditions in a busy dispensary.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medicines and appliances following standard operating procedures.
• Check item appropriateness, dose, and labelling with GP when needed.
• Endorse prescriptions in line with NHS Prescription Services requirements.
• Keep up to date with new drugs, medicines and changes in legislation.
• Complete significant event forms and ensure timely completion by colleagues.
• Liaise with patients, offering advice to promote medication compliance.
• Forward invoices and dispensary correspondence to the practice manager per protocol.
• Act promptly on drug alerts and respond to communications from time to time.
• Answer the phone for prescription requests and handle prescription requests.
• Issue prepared prescriptions and process prescription requests.
• Maintain efficient stock control to ensure continuity of supply and minimize wastage.
• Ensure drugs are received, stored and temperature-controlled as required.
• Keep work surfaces and equipment clean and in good order.
• Maintain full records of all dispensing transactions and correspondence with community pharmacies.
