Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the receipt, storage and distribution of medicines across wards and departments at Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital. You will work with Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Dispensing Assistants to ensure safe, cost-effective medicine use.

The role involves weekend and bank holiday shifts, with some late duties until 19:30, and may require NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient supplies system of Drugs and associated products to wards, departments and units, including receipt, storage and distribution.
  • Work across Pharmacy Stores and support ward-based pharmacy service.
  • Contribute to invoicing and stock management to ensure timely supply.

Whetheryou are just starting off in your career and have a special interest inPharmacy or if youre an individual with experience in Pharmacy, then we arelooking for you! We are seeking candidates with drive, initiative, enthusiasmand good communication skills to join our friendly and forward-thinkingPharmacy team to work across both Pharmacy Departments at Sunderland RoyalHospital and South Tyneside District Hospital.

Theposts involve working alongside our Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techniciansand Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants to provide integrated pharmaceutical carefor service users in the Trust to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effectiveuse of medicines.

Main duties of the job

Youwill participate in a range of duties within the Pharmacy Stores including thereceipt, distribution of medicines to wards and departments, stock managementon wards/departments, invoicing and other duties which support the ward basedPharmacy service

Anability to work both in a team and alone is essential and it is vital thatapplicants understand the needs of patients and other staff members.Candidates must have effective time management skills, an ability to workwithin time constraints and be flexible to changing work routines.

Aspart of the Pharmacy team, you will be required to contribute to the Saturday,Sunday and Bank Holidays roster and additionally some late duties untilapproximately 19:30 Monday to Friday.

Successfulapplicants will either have, or willing to work towards, the completion of anNVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Previous experience of working in ahospital or community Pharmacy would also be desirable but it is notessential.

Flexibleworking arrangements would be considered including part time hours.

Qualifications
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills to Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Completed appropriate NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or willing to work towards and complete within 6 months of commencing the post
Experience
  • Experience of computer stock control systems.
  • Experience in a similar post
