Job summary

Mitie in Worthing, West Sussex, is seeking an Environment Health & Safety Specialist for a predominantly site-based role on a major pharmaceutical manufacturing site. You will lead construction safety programmes, manage CDM/compliance, and partner with engineering and operations to drive safe delivery of capital projects.

The role reports to the EHS Director and focuses on environmental compliance, contractor management, audits and investigations, with opportunities to influence site-wide safety

Qualifications

• NEBOSH qualification or equivalent in Health & Safety, Construction Safety or Environmental Management.
• Degree qualification in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Experience working in regulated or high-hazard manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of contractor management, CDM and construction safety practices.
• Experience supporting engineering, maintenance, or capital project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site's Construction Safety programme and drive improvement across multiple projects.
• Provide expert guidance on construction, demolition, contractor safety, permits to work, and risk management.
• Support environmental compliance activities including energy, water, waste and sustainability initiatives.
• Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews across EHS programmes.
• Partner with engineering, operations and project teams to ensure safe delivery of capital projects.
• Review and approve RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and project documentation.
