PGME Clinical Education Fellow - Supporting IMG and AMU

Job Summary

The post is a one-year fixed-term contract based at Great Western Hospital Swindon (GWH). It offers a unique opportunity for trainees interested in education, with 50% in Acute Medicine and 50% in Postgraduate Medical Education. The role includes involvement in simulation activities.

This position is suitable for a ST3 - ST4 level doctor, such as those seeking further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE). There is also an opportunity to undertake a PG Certification in Clinical Education.

Main duties of the job
  • Provision of clinical education for postgraduate trainees, including simulation and clinical skills training, supporting International Medical Graduates.
  • Participation in research projects or original work aimed at peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • Bedside and classroom teaching of postgraduate trainees.
  • Coordination of postgraduate trainees' teaching opportunities.
  • Supporting clinical skills teaching and ward-based assessments.
  • Evaluation of teaching activities.
  • Undertaking necessary training for effective teaching.

Job Responsibilities
  • Promote and deliver simulation as an educational tool.
  • Provide support and advice to IMG trainees.
  • Lead mentorship for incoming IMG and support their social integration.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential): GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice, eligibility for ST3-ST4.

Qualifications (Desirable): Postgraduate courses in medical education.

Experience (Essential): Experience with ARCP, NHS acute medicine, e-portfolios, QI, teaching postgraduate doctors.

Knowledge (Essential): Sound clinical knowledge, initial management of acutely ill patients, IT skills, attention to detail, interest in medical education.
