Job summary

Outwood Academy Kirkby seeks a PLC Coordinator to lead the Personalised Learning Centre and coordinate alternative courses for specific student cohorts. The role involves proactive multi-agency collaboration, mentoring, and removing barriers to learning within a supportive school environment.

You will identify cohorts, design and deliver targeted programmes, and guide pupils toward further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable students in a school setting.
• Excellent communication, time management, and ICT skills.
• Ability to develop programmes of work to build self-esteem and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Identify student cohorts for the alternative curriculum and deliver relevant courses to provide them with necessary qualifications.

• Develop time-bound action plans with SMART targets to remove barriers to learning.
• Establish and maintain mentoring relationships with pupils.
• Undertake appropriate tests (e.g., Lucid) and support pupils towards further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Working Pattern: Full Time - 37 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday, Term Time plus 5 days

Are you dedicated to transforming the educational outcomes for vulnerable students through bespoke support pathways? Join us as a PLC Coordinator, where you will lead the management of the Personalised Learning Centre (PLC) and strategically identify and deliver alternative courses and intervention strategies relevant to specific student cohorts. A core component of the role is extensive external liaison, acting as the single point of contact for accessing specialist support services such as the Social and Youth Services, the Education Welfare Service, and the Probation Service. You will develop and implement time-bound action plans with SMART targets to remove barriers to learning, establish and maintain supportive mentoring relationships, and undertake necessary student testing (e.g., Lucid).

The role involves supporting and encouraging pupils toward further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Qualifications

Essential requirements include experience of working in a school environment with young people who have faced specific difficulties and vulnerabilities. Candidates must demonstrate experience and knowledge of issues affecting students and young people, enabling them to offer supportive assistance.

Key skills include the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, excellent time management and organisation skills, and proficiency in using standard ICT packages. Crucially, the post holder must be able to develop programmes of work that will develop self-esteem and confidence.
