Responsibilities

Are you a newly qualified Solicitor looking to build your career within a leading defendant insurance team?

We are working with a highly regarded national law firm that is looking to appoint an NQ EL/PL Solicitor to join its established team in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious newly qualified lawyer to gain high-quality experience working on a varied caseload of Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims, alongside experienced and supportive practitioners.

The Role

You will work as part of a specialist defendant insurance team, acting for a range of insurers, corporate clients and other major organisations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a caseload of EL and PL defendant claims.
• Assisting with claims from initial instruction through to resolution.
• Advising insurer and corporate clients on liability, quantum and strategy.
• Drafting pleadings, statements, correspondence and other legal documentation.
• Reviewing evidence and assessing prospects of success.
• Liaising with clients, insurers, counsel, experts and other stakeholders.
• Negotiating settlements where appropriate.
• Supporting more senior members of the team on complex and higher-value matters.
• Developing strong client relationships and gaining exposure to high-quality defendant insurance work.

About You

We are looking for an NQ Solicitor who has ideally gained some experience in EL/PL, defendant personal injury or insurance litigation during their training contract.

You will have:

• Recently qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales, or be due to qualify shortly.
• Experience of EL/PL or defendant insurance work is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A commercial and client-focused approach.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within defendant insurance litigation.
